Marina & Rob’s Wedding at the Ballroom at the Providence G in Providence, RI

Marina and Rob was definitely one of the best couples I’ve ever worked with. I met them about a year ago when I did their engagement session in Concord, MA at the Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge, and they loved my work so much they decided to book me for their winter wedding this December! I absolutely love when I connect so much with couples that they know immediately that they want to work with me again in the future — it makes for such a great fit for working together since we have already met and learned about each other and how we tick!

I had SO much fun on Marina and Rob’s wedding day. It was a chilly December morning when I walked into Marina’s hotel room at the Graduate Providence, saw Marina’s smiling face despite her anxiety about the wedding going according to plan and knew it was going to be a great day. I was the videographer for this event, and worked with Allison Markova, the photographer throughout the day to capture the event in full.

Together, Allison, her husband (the second photographer) and I captured shots of Marina’s jewelry, dress, shoes and bouquet in the hotel room as Marina and her bridesmaids put on finishing touches to their hair and makeup. We had Marina and the bridesmaids pose for a few portraits, and I ducked out to find Rob in his hotel room to get some shots of him getting ready as well. We then made our way down to the lobby for the first look between Marina and Rob on the grand staircase of the hotel, which was absolutely delightful! The staircase was decked out in Christmas lights and decorations, providing a festive atmosphere for the occasion.

After gathering the whole bridal party (which was a bit of a task, since it can sometimes be like herding cats!), we headed off to the Providence River Walk for some posed bridal party photos in the cold! The bridesmaids were in sleeveless dresses but luckily had cozy faux fur wraps to keep their shoulders warm in the wind. Spirits were high despite the low temperatures, and we had a great time walking up and down the walk snapping photos!

The time for the ceremony eventually rolled around, and we piled back into the van which dropped us off at our final location, the Ballroom at The Providence G. This gorgeous ballroom provided a lovely, high-ceilinged space for the Jewish ceremony that tied the knot for Marina and Rob! We all cheered as Rob smashed a glass under his foot to end the ceremony and the newlyweds walked down the aisle holding hands aloft with big smiles on their faces.

The Ballroom boasts a spacious rooftop patio for cocktail hour, and guests took full advantage of the large fireplaces to warm their hands as they snacked on hors d’oeuvres while waiting for dinner. I took this chance to pilot my drone up to snag some footage of the rooftop terrace and got some lovely shots of the fireplaces flickering at the top of the building!

The reception was lively, with Russian traditions and foods sprinkled throughout to honor the newlyweds’ roots. There was plenty of dancing throughout the night, and over 10 speeches and toasts from various family members! I had so much fun capturing it all as Marina and Rob celebrated with their friends and family. It was certainly one of my favorite weddings I’ve attended!

Allison kindly provided the beautiful still images for this blog post below!
