BOSTON Wedding
Photography & VIDEOGRAPHY
Laney and Wyatt had a beautiful summer barn wedding at their friend’s barn and stable in Byfield, MA. Laney and Wyatt are high school sweethearts, and knew they had found the one since they started running cross country together in school! After being together for five years, they knew it was time to tie the knot. They reached out to me because they loved my authentic and candid style of photography, and were eager to work together! They are absolute sweethearts and I had such a lovely time getting to know them on the phone and found we had plenty in common, such as our love for running and the outdoors. We got them booked and started planning for their wedding right away.
I met the pair last year for their engagement session at Wildcat Falls in Manchester, NH and we connected even more during our time together! I always recommend couples to get their engagement photos done with their wedding photographer, as this is an amazing opportunity to develop a relationship with them before your wedding day and understand their style and workflow. They also get the chance to get to know you, your portrait session preferences and comfort level with different poses and types of photos. You can read the accompanying blog post about their engagement session here.
The summer day was bright and beautiful, and when I arrived at the venue I was impressed with how they had transformed the stable and paddock area into a gorgeous wedding venue. I was even more blown away that Laney had planned the whole wedding by herself — a true feat for a bride to accomplish! The day went off without a hitch and I commend her for organizing such a large event while simultaneously being one of the VIPs of the day.
We started the day our with bride prep in the main house. Laney was surrounded by her entourage as they hung out together putting on makeup, getting dressed and performing final touches before the ceremony. Laney looked like an absolute dream in her beautiful lace wedding dress, complete with a pair of monogramed white Converse shoes! Wyatt got dressed in a nearby room with his groomsmen, looking extremely handsome in his charcoal suit and peach bow tie. When the two were ready, we headed outside for the first look and private vows, which were beautifully emotional and tear-jerking.
We spent some time wandering around the wooded trails surrounding the stable for formal portraits of the couple, and managed to snap some gorgeous, fairytale-like images in the beautiful forest. Following our lovely walk in the woods, the couple and I returned and spent some time taking bridal party and family photos in the paddock area! We took some fun shots with the group, and then went back indoors to cool off and to prepare for the ceremony. During this time, I checked out and took pictures of the indoor horse riding arena which had been transformed into a reception space with tables, decorations and even a W&L lighted marquee sign!
At last, it was time for the ceremony. Guests cheered and clapped as Laney and Wyatt tied the knot, and laughed as a sweet barn cat photobombed the vows! This had to be the highlight of the day — the friendly cat came right up to me as I was kneeling to take a photo of the couple under the arch, and insisted to be the center of attention. Laney and Wyatt thought it was adorable and this truly made the ceremony one to remember!
The reception in the arena was lively and joyful, with live music, dancing, catered food and cake. The speeches from the Best Man, Maid of Honor and Mother of the Bride were heartfelt and sweet. It was such a pleasure working with this lovely couple and I am so thankful they included me in their journey to becoming husband and wife! Check out some photos from the beautiful occasion below:
