Hello! I’m Emelyn Chiang (she/her). I am a Boston-based wedding photographer and cinematographer, spending my weekends capturing the spirit of one of the most important days in a couple’s life. I take a candid, relaxed approach to cinematography and photography in order to preserve each beautiful moment of the wedding day and create everlasting memories.
My humble photography beginnings can be traced back to my cross country years in high school. I was a passionate runner and delighted in the camaraderie I found in my tightly-knit team. I began bringing our family digital camera (an old Nikon DSLR) to my races and started snapping photos of my teammates at the meets, documenting each triumphant victory and heartbreaking loss. I became known as the unofficial team photographer, and took my job of capturing each runner in action very seriously.
Here’s one of the first pictures I took for my high school cross country team
My passion for digital media grew in college where I continued to photograph and film my running team. I dipped a finger in other events and subjects, and had an incredible experience traveling to South Africa one summer to produce a documentary starring a beautiful aging cheetah, Tandeka, with whom I was enamored. After I returned from my trip, I shot my first wedding, and from then on I was hooked.
Big cats helped fuel my passion for film and photography!
I started Emelyn Productions because I am passionate about capturing and preserving priceless memories. Beautifully rendered photography and film of a once-in-a-lifetime event allows us to relive that fleeting moment again and again in exquisite detail in the future. I revel in the joy of a wedding ceremony, the charm of the reception, the love and laughter in the air, and the timelessness of a film or photo album which preserves the beauty of the day forever.
I turned my passion into a career by dedicating myself to capturing the details and spirit of one of the most important days of your life. I am LGBTQ-friendly and celebrate all kinds of love! It is my goal to create a beautiful, enduring memory of your wedding that you will treasure for years to come.
Outside of my wedding work, I am passionate about sustainability and environmental justice. I received my undergraduate degree in Engineering and Environmental Science & Policy at Smith College, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Tufts University.
When I’m not shooting or editing, I enjoy being active outdoors rock climbing, playing ultimate frisbee, and cycling. I also love spending time with my cat Secret and taking her for walks and canoe rides!
This is my beautiful, extremely fluffy cat Secret!
I live just outside of Boston, and the majority of my work is in New England, especially in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southern New Hampshire.
